  1. The movie Insomnia (Robin Williams, Al Pacino) takes place in Alaska and has the never ending nights as a major plot device. I was born here, so I’m actually perfectly comfortable sleeping in the light (but it means I have to be diligent if I want to maintain a useful schedule).

  2. I went to Alaska (Anchorage) for the first time back in Dec for work. I tried SO HARD to see Northern Lights, 4 hours of daylight, go to Utqiagvik, just *something.*

Unfortunately, in the dead of winter, it’s impossible to get anywhere. And if we’re lucky enough to go somewhere like that, it will be nearly impossible to get out.

Also, no Northern Lights, but did see ~6 hours of daylight, which is weird.

And I was so excited for the darkness. FUUUUUUCK all of that.

  3. While I’m sure constant sunlight, and darkness in winter, would be pretty annoying and hard to get used to. But damn is it cool seeing the sun go all the way across the horizon like that.

  4. What would trip me the most it’s not only just skimming the horizon but the sun is just circling in the sky. Not just going from one side to the other
