  1. This movie is an all around gold mine, considering it was peak Will Smith mania and Vincent D’Onofrio’s iconic performance as a giant cockroach wearing a man suit, but this poignant quote has stuck with me since I was a kid, and I’ve always strived to make decisions based on my own thought processes rather than be influenced by the crowd around me.

  2. Me and my brother were literally discussing this quote yesterday and how relevant it is to this situation. I’m prepared to see a lot of people do some really dumb shit. I’m more scared of the general populace than the virus itself. Although I still believe in not being an idiot and practicing sanitary habits.

  3. “There’s always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Korilian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable planet. The only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they “do not know about it!”

  4. I remember seeing that movie in the theater and that scene along with the pan out to the two aliens playing marbles with the universes stuck with me forever.

Not bad for a 20 year old movie to have not one, but two scene that stick with people for so long.

  5. I think the best line is at the end of this scene where J asks “Is it worth it?”

And K responds without hesitation “Oh yeah, it’s worth it… If you’re strong enough.”

That “If you’re strong enough” hits me really hard for some reason.

  6. Soooooo. Funny story.

I gave this monologue in high school in front of a hundred people. Couldnt remember it quite right and started with “people are dumb…” and got booed and shamed off the stage before I could recover from the error.

I stopped trying to be funny after a few gaffes of this quality. I was not popular, lol. Still makes me laugh to think about it, haha.

  7. Tommy Lee Jones always has at least one great line in his movies. In Men in Black it’s this, in Toy Soldiers it’s “Are you scared? We’re all scared. You’d have to be crazy not to be scared.” And in The Fugitive it’s “I don’t care!”

  8. I drove a person who works at Sams to work today and popped in the store to pick up some random items. The place was packed, all the TP was gone. People were buying like mad. Tempers were flaring. I went to my car thinking people really should be smarter than this.

This line popped in my head and i just chuckled.
