  1. Their mother died of cancer a couple of years after this as well. Feel bad for the family. Brother saw her get shot in the head and tackled the guy who did it and now runs her foundation against gun violence. Probably extremely traumatic for him.

I think it’s cool of the family to try to start a foundation and turn this into something good, but also must be really rough to constantly be reminded of that and have it basically be your job. I hope they can move on from it eventually.

  2. I still hear voice before she does her cover of Skyrims theme everytime i hear skyrims music (im one of those weirdos who keeps game music playing in the background at work), “doing my cover of Malukahs cover”

  3. I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s calling out to not name the killer. People see that and they think they can become (in)famous by doing something atrocious. You also detract attention from the actual subject of this post by naming a superfluous name. Hearing Christina’s death really shook me a couple of years back, so young and beautiful and so much potential.

  4. I found this girl when she was just starting to post videos from her bedroom on youtube. Everything that happened next, from her quick rise in popularity and fame to her senseless murder was just unbelievable.

  5. It was so weird, theres a chickfila in that same plaza I was visiting and stopped by for dinner and saw the line of fans outside her venue, that night she was killed and then the next morning i got up and saw the helicopters hovering over I4 at 7am on a sunday and turned on the news to hear about Pulse. Such a sad weekend in Orlando

  6. I grew up watching her sing and was actually at a concert when I heard the news. It’s absolutely devastating. She was such a gentle soul with an incredible voice.

  7. My sister was a superfan of hers. We were sitting in an airport when i read the news and i was hesitant to even show her. She was silent the entire flight to visit our grandmother in Florida. We then proceeded to spend every night of that vacation listening to her videos, singing along word for word, heavily boozed and weeded up. I knew them all, even though i only heard them when my sister would play them throughout the years. Hell even my grandmother would come down and vibe with us, even though she didn’t know about Christina outside of what my sister had told her. My grandmother has passed a year or two after that vacation, so my most recent memories of her were from that time. I would never have such a close relationship with my sister, nor such fond memories of that vacation if it were not for an amateur singer who named her channel after a Nintendo game.

Love you forever Christina, this still doesn’t make any sense.

  8. I remember reading about this when it happened. She was young, talented, just getting started and it ended like this. The article I read said it was a post show meetup with fans and she was going to give him a hug when he pulled the gun out…fucking heartbreaking. She was a sweet girl, what a shame…

  9. Super sad how this all played out. Thank God her murder is no longer with us. If it were actually her brother that fired the shot that killed this idiot, good for him. I hate what happened to this poor girl but to know her killer isn’t sitting in a jail cell getting pampered waiting on other trials is a relief. He is a true piece of trash that took a true star and a bright light away too soon.

  10. Keep his name out of these stories. He shouldn’t be the one we know. Let him fade away in obscurity. He wants to be known and that’s what you’ve given him.

  11. I remember watching The Matchmaker movie without knowing anything about her. I thought she was a good actress and cute. At the end of the movie, I think it showed a picture of her and 1994-2016. How sad.

  12. Super sad. I found her on YouTube when she first started and she was one of the reasons I started getting into musical instruments myself. I wish she had the chance to live the life she deserved.

  13. I used to kinda know the guys who were playing the show with her that night. They all did the meet and greet together and saw it all go down. I think they toured with her previously too, so they were pretty good friends. So sad to see all these young people experience something so tragic, when all they were trying to do was spread their gift to the world.

    RIP

  14. The only celebrity death I’ve cried about. I’ve been super bummed at celebrity deaths before, but her death was so sudden and out of nowhere, and she was so young that it just hit me much harder. I’d followed her off and on for years, even before she appeared on The Voice.

    **EDIT**
A couple of my favorite performances and a tribute video from her YT

    1. [In Christ Alone](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzseOqwn8oo) (especially hurts given what happened to her.)
    2. [Just a Dream](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2RA0vsZXf8)
    3. [Tribute vid posted on her YT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3290550YVog)

  15. I remember checking Reddit on my lunchbreak the day after she was killed, and I was in complete shock. Going back to work after that was really hard, especially since none of my coworkers (in my department at least) knew who she was. She was super talented, a true highlight of the youtube music community, and seemed to be a very genuine and kind soul. Hard to believe its been 4 years already. RIP Christina.
