I remeber running into one of the spinny light arcade machines that was based on skill. It was set so that the light would go one more spot after hitting the button. I managed to time it so I could always get the best spot. I probably got an eraser with the tickets. Completely pointless in hindsight.
Holy shit! Back in 90-2000 this was my arcade game for making tickets. Some reason I was just really good at it. BUT, after time I noticed I never seemed to win when the jackpot was below 200. I chalked it up in my brain to, well when the jackpot isn’t high, it’s not worth using tickets to try. Just cash in when it’s big.
Turns out I was just being scammed. I feel like between gambling on baseball and magic cards, rigged machines etc. we were just scammed by about everyone as kids back then. We were like the beta testers for the future of child marketing scams. How is this ok lol.
This is the guy who built the [package glitter bombs](https://youtu.be/h4T_LlK1VE4) and the American Squirrel Ninja [obstacle course](https://youtu.be/hFZFjoX2cGg). Good videos.
Even the Engineer agrees; Read the fucking manual.
wouldnt this make it gambling
This assumes that the group velocity of the light is constant between runs, which it may not be.
Skee ball probably has electromagnets or something
Duh.
Dunno why I’m so shook right now …. so many memories of playing these at arcades …. so many lies!
I remember watching a video on how to win/lose at arcade games. iirc this spinning light one is rigged because the light alters its speed as it comes towards the jackpot light ever so slightly either sped up or down, therefore screwing with your timing.

“Engineer”?? Come on, gotta give that guy his credit. Thats Mark Rober and he’s a youtube treasure
I know that no one else cares about this — but isn’t it crazy to hear the word “ghetto” in this context? That word really has evolved!

Thinks he has all the variables figured out. Wrong.
OBOE variable separate to timing between lights.
Variable light speed per round.
Variable light speed per light.
Button resistance.
Backpack shift.
And more.
