My proficient carpenter neighbor wasn’t positive if his work is attention-grabbing to others, so I spent a couple of weeks making this PBS model woodworking video of a construct we did to hopefully show him fallacious.

  1. Soon as he picked out that red zebra wood my wallet cringed and that was before they showed the total. I can barely afford to work in oak and maple.

  2. Not sure if Randy will ever see these comments or not, but Randy, you’ve got quite a talent and personality. The world would love to see more of you.

  3. That tablesaw blade is WAY too high!

Been bit by one, before. Kinda paranoid about that ever since.

Other than that, the guy needs his own show.

Ever since New Yankee Workshop ended, there’s a lack of interesting (to me) woodworking shows in a tolerable format.

  4. As someone who doesn’t have any woodworking tools, but watches Ask This Old House every weekend because “one day” I’d love to get into woodworking, I really enjoy watching this. Just seems like someone who’s pretty real.

  5. This is one of the best craft-type videos I have ever seen. When he says he did it partially because he alone, I genuinely felt sad for him and happy that you were giving him some friendship. It’s something we all need.

Great work and a beautiful product and story.

  6. I loved the video! I found it very enjoyable to see your creative interest portrayed in a calm and wholesome way on screen.

  7. Why don’t you both do a channel together? A few instructional videos a month you both would have a nice promotion tool and passive income

  8. Did you ever get into his life story and history? I got kinda bored just watching him cut wood. Was wondering when the formal interview parts would pop in.

  9. I’m an amateur wood worker myself, just want to say that this video and your neighbours carpentry is absolutely stunning. What a great meeting of the arts (his and yours).

    Great job!! Loved watching it.

  10. This was posted last week and had a ton of views, but was posted by a different user with a different YouTube channel.

Not sure what’s going on. Seems more like a karma post and stealing a filmmakers video

  11. The cut at 13 seconds in is super dangerous. You need to use a cross cut sled. Blade height is too high.

Video is way too fast paced. Too many cuts Slow it down. Woodworking is slow and methodical. Background music over dialogue is a distraction.
