  1. Not really strange at all. The force of the wave is pressing water through the gaps in the dock boards as the wave passes by. Looks super cool, though – it’d make a great water park attraction.

  2. Everyone struggling to understand what is strange is failing to realise that OP is expecting a floating dock. A fixed height dock is a little odd unless this is a small body of water with little tidal change.

  3. What’s going on here is water isn’t compressible, and that dock has a lot of momentum. So the water that does escape through the cracks is very high pressure.

    It’s like a water hammer. The water can’t shrink, it can’t go backwards – it just gets pressurized.
