  1. I like how he mentioned he enjoyed the show. If the best chest player in the world enjoyed a show about chess you know its good!

  2. There’s a narrative throughline here. In the car the CIA agent tells Harmon that Borgov might try and communicate with her in some way to indicate he is willing to defect. Possibly by doing something unusual during the game. I think the state of the game and his “obvious” mistakes were intentionally crafted.

    He even offers a draw. Borgov never offers draws.

  3. So I loved the series but my knowledge and skills with chess are paper thin. So I’m pretty amazed the show actually had chess moves loving up to a real chess champion’s expectations. Obviously they’d do their research for a chess show, but his comments surprised me.
